The Flamingo was the first hotel on
the Strip in the middle of the desert and was
built in 1946 by the mobster “Bugsy” Siegel. After the hotel was torn down
in 1996, today the glittering neon facade counts for many as the Las Vegas
landmark par excellence. It is located directly on the famous intersection
of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road.
The only memory of the gangster in the hotel is to be found in Bugsy’s Deli,
a restaurant in the New York style with black and white photos from out of
the 1940’s and 1950’s.
After a $130 million renovation, today the Flamingo has one of the most
elegant pool landscapes in Las Vegas. Amidst tropical plants, palms and two
islands can be found two large pools for African penguins and pink flamingos.
In this 6 hectares of tropical paradise can be found also a bar, a grill,
tennis courts and a wedding chapel.
Cabanas can be rented with television, phone, changing cabins and drinks
cabinets included. Passing via the gigantic laguna pool, past the cabanas,
and through a triple waterfall, guests can swim in a special grotto. |
