The Stratosphere Tower Hotel is one of
the best-known hotels in Las Vegas and lies
to the north between downtown and the Strip. Many visitors are lured here by
the 1,149-feet high Stratosphere Tower, which is itself a Las Vegas landmark
and at the same time is the tallest building in the USA west of the
Mississippi.
At the peak of the tower there are four exciting attractions to be seen: a
roller coaster called the High Roller twists round the tower; with the Big
Shot riders are scooted 49 meters into the air; with the X Scream, which
resembles a gigantic teetertotter, you are swung back and forth across the
tower, and on the Insanity you are swung daringly over the edge of the tower
on cables. If this is all too extreme for some guests, you can simply the
enjoy the unparalleled panoramic view from the lookout platform, from inside
or from outside the tower.
The 2,444 rooms of the Stratosphere are spread through two 24-story
buildings. In addition to this the hotel offers its guests a large shopping
mall with more than 50 stores and restaurants, an 80,000 square feet casino,
a hotel-owned show theater and a large swimming pool and leisure facility
with whirlpool, basketball nets and a volleyball court on the sun terrace on
the 8th floor. |
